3.	Add a comment in the comment box if you find the entry is appropriate

In recent years, blogging has become an essential part of internet marketer for driving free targeted traffic. Part of it is because blogging allows you to communicate with each other building up relationship. There are numerous methods out there to drive free targeted traffic to your blog.

Ping your blog post to major blog directories, it’s all for SEO purposes

Commenting on other people’s blog gets you quite a fair bit of traffic depending on the ranking of the blog. The higher the rank, the more traffic you get.

These two ways are free and very effective for generating free targeted traffic.

Commenting doesn’t mean the traffic is targeted unless you do it the right way. Firstly you will need to find blogs that is related to your niche. By searching on blog directories will do so, technorati is one of the site that has a blog directory. Search for keywords that describe your niche in the directory.

The secret of getting free targeted traffic through comment lies here:

Be the first to comment (this is the most important key point to increase your site traffic) on popular post. It will defeat the purpose if you are not one of the first few to comment because readers will not read each and one of them. In fact, some of them do not read it. But if you’re the first, readers will definitely see your comment because it is smack right below the post.

The next step will be giving value in the comment. Make the comment interesting and valuable, this will create a curiosity for people to check out your website.

Always keep the comments relevant and make sure you are not out of point when you actually start commenting.

Now I’m going to touch on commenting on social website. Sign up with some of the most popular web2.0 site like MySpace and facebook if you do not have one. Repeat the same steps above, the only difference is you are now commenting on web2.0 site, it will not only get you free traffic but build up relationship with the user. Remember to invite them as friend before commenting.

This is a highly effective way of pointing one-way links towards your site and can drive a large number of free traffic to your website and it has a potential to increase your site’s SERPs (Search Engine Position). The key to this is to leverage on high traffic blog

There are no limitations on how you can generate your vital campaigns. You’re only limited by your own imagination. Here are some additional ideas you can employ:

Offer free hosting. If you have a server, you can offer free, reliable hosting in exchange for the customer allowing your banner ads to run on the pages. If you do not have a server, check around to find a hosting company with resell rights where you get to place your banner on the site. Word of mouth for free hosting will spread rapidly, so be prepared for the onslaught.

Create a complimentary product. If you’re promoting an affiliate product on How to Get Pregnant, then a logical complementary product could be How to Stay Fit Before and During Your Pregnancy. This way, you’re not giving away the secrets of the original product, but adding value to its purchase.

Whatever You Do, Do It Right. Compilation can get messy. If you have a viral free report, don’t launch it in Word where everyone and their brother can alter its text. Secure it in PDF format. Remember that your freebie must be convenient, as well as valuable. If it’s a 1-hour video download or a report with 50MB, then someone on a dial-up connection may balk – even if it is free!

Don’t OD on the Marketing Mumbo-Jumbo. The recipients of your viral campaign don’t want to read, watch, or hear an infomercial. They want it to feel like they really did get something for nothing. Make sure you’re sparse with your links so the reader doesn’t get offended.

Put Your Domains to Good Use. Give viral freebies to anyone who opts into your newsletter or eZine. Think of it as a free gift for subscribing (to a free eZine).

Plant Teasers on the ‘Net for your Freebies. Some people won’t take something for free because they’re leery of it. So to entice them to viewing the entire freebie offer teasers to whey their appetite.

Let Your Sig File Do the Talking. Joining forums and groups on the ‘net and advertising your free offer will generate a good deal of free targeted traffic.

Every time you make a post, send an email, or launch another site you create an opportunity for the launch of another viral marketing campaign. It should be every bit as important as your product creation, sales letter copy, and customer service components are to the good of your business.

Just as when you have your own product, there are many different ways of promoting products as an affiliate. Everyone has their favorites, so we’ll over the methods that most people actually use when starting out.

Get Free Targeted Traffic with Articles, writing articles is one of the best things that you can do to start getting free web traffic to your affiliate pages. You don’t have to be a Pulitzer Prize winner.

If you go to an article directory such as Ezinearticles.com or GoArticles.com and submit 300-600 word articles around the topic of your product, you will begin to see some web traffic.

You’ll get web traffic three ways using this method. A) People are always looking for web content, so they’ll see your article and use it on their website – leaving the resource box (where you put your URL) attached, and people will click through.

B) the search engines, including Google, love the two article directories I mentioned, so they’ll quickly index your article into their search engine, if you’ve chosen the right keywords to base your article around, and that’s a beautiful thing for you and your commissions.

And finally, C) People will run your article in the newsletter or eZine, giving you little surges of traffic occasionally. One quick word: Ezinearticles.com does not allow affiliate links in then resource box.

What you can do then is set up a little simple website either reviewing the product you’re promoting, or using a form to capture a person’s email address to send them a free report or mini-course.

This method will build you a list as well. This is a system where it’s best to keep writing fresh articles, but it pays off. Hire someone – a ghostwriter – to write articles for you if you don’t feel confident enough to write them yourself.

Get Instant Web Traffic with Google Adwords. Google Adwords is the weapon of choice among many affiliates. The main reason being that it’s fast, and also – if you do thing right – controlled. How many times would you pay a dollar to make $2.00? All day, right?

Use Your Competitors Traffic and Ezine Subscribers. What you’re looking to do here is to find eZines and Newsletter in your niche, and send out ads in their ezines, to their list.

You usually have a choice between sending out a classified, sponsor, or solo ad. You’ll want tos tart from the beginning with a couple of classifieds, see how those convert, and work your way up to a solo ad.

It will take a bit of practice to write a food one, but its well worth your time. Always make sure to subscribe first to the eZine to get a taste of what they offer.

Get Sneaky Web Traffic with Free Reports. It’s not all that sneaky. You’ll just write a free report (2-10 pages) and embed your affiliate link within it in the content. Just find a good angle to go with involves the product, write a report giving away some valuable free information (just don’t give away the farm) and people will click the links inside, sending them to your affiliate page.

Note: After you write the report you can give it away to subscribers or submit it to eBook directories. This will create a viral effect. It will get passed all around the Internet, giving you much more exposure for your affiliate links.

Answer Questions in Forums. In most online forums, you’ll be allowed to see a signature file, and as long as you’re not deliberately spamming the forum, you should have no problem.

You’ll want to ask and answer questions with as much valuable information as possible. People will begin to see you as an authority on your subject, and will click on the link in you sig. file to get further information. This tactic works well. People have built their careers and their fortunes by using Forum Marketing.

Now it’s time to turn the tables a bit. I assume you know how effective it is to be an affiliate for someone else’s product. Now imagine if you had your own product, with a bunch of affiliates out there working on your behalf.

If you fished around in ClickBank at all, you no doubt saw some products whose owners biggest source of income were from affiliate referrals. (You Can see this shown after the % refd symbol)

There are the most brilliant product owners simply because they have a virtually hands free source of income. They’ve created their product, and put to use the techniques of acquiring affiliates that I’ll teach you now, and watch the money flow into their bank account from the affiliates’ hard work, not their own.

This type of income is called passive residual income, and frankly there is no better. The reason are simple:

You pay your affiliates only after they’ve made the sale – No more wasted money on ads that might not work.

Advertising on Steroids – You’re putting the advertising dollars of your affiliates to work instead of your own.

Higher Placement in the Search Engines – Every time an affiliate links back to your site, this helps your placement in the search engines.

Okay, you have your product, and you want to start your affiliate program, what do you do first? There are basically two ways to go about it. You can run your affiliate program on your own server, but this requires that you have and know how to install the necessary scripts to run it, plus have your own merchant account set up for accepting payment and sending out the commission checks.

Your other option – which is much easier – is to have a third party manager such as ClickBank, or other’s mentioned above run it for you. For simplicity reasons, this is the way I recommend.

These companies will send out commission checks for you, track the affiliate sales, and let your affiliates check their stats. The most important predictor of success with your affiliate program revolves around the happiness of your affiliates, bottom line.

Therefore you’ll want to do everything humanly possible to make sure that they’re well taken care of. You have to count on them wanting things to be as easy as possible – after all, you don’t want to work extra so why would they?

Your success depends on their success – so you should do everything you can to ensure it. You should keep this in mind from the beginning when you set up your affiliate program.

Assuming that your product is an information product, I would recommend using ClickBank as your affiliate network. This will let you accept credit cards, they will run your affiliate program for you, plus give over 60,000 affiliates the option to sell your products for you.

Basically, they will bill your customers – pay you – and pay your affiliates their commission. They charge a one-time fee of $49.95 for activation, and a $1 + 7.5% fee per sale. This leaves you with no monthly fees. It’s a win/win situation and couldn’t get any easier.

Are you wondering how you’re going to get affiliates to want to sell your products? That is where you’ll have to get busy, and make it so beneficial for them that they feel like a fool not to.

In order to successfully pull in affiliates, you must sell your affiliate program as hard, if not harder than you sell your products. You must lay on the benefits of selling your program over your competition, which will include providing them with many things such as marketing tools

Your affiliates will need as many ways as possible to get people to their affiliate URL.

Some of these things include:

Having professional looking banner ads (of different colors and sizes);

Articles for them to use in their newsletters or on their websites;

Special reports in downloadable format (PDF) that they can be re-brand with their affiliate link and give away to subscribers, or as a free gift for opting-in to a newsletter;

Sample Ads – classified and Adwords ads for them to use;

Lists of popular keywords to get their brain started, giving them a starting point to begin digging deeper;

Unlimited Email Support – This is a biggie – people need to know that you’re there for them if they need you, and will appreciate it when you show them that you are. Bad news regarding customer service spreads very quickly.

A Private User Forum – where affiliates can ask questions and bounce ideas back and forth, etc.

Audio and Video Tutorials.

And a Newsletter giving away the latest breakthroughs and advice.

All of this will go into your Sales Letter that you’ll actually write out for prospective affiliates. Make sure you have the following components in your affiliate sales letter:

A Catchy Headline

An intro that will pull them in to your letter

Bullet points touching on each benefit that they’ll experience when choosing to promote your product.

A story, if you have one, of how affiliate marketing changed someone’s life

Testimonials of happy affiliates and hopefully specifies on how much they were able to earn

A Call to Action that tells them where to click, and what to do when they get to the sign up page.

Basically, the more you have – the better, and the more affiliates you’ll bring in. you have to think of your affiliates as your sales force, and you’re sales manager. You want to help them in as many ways possible so that you can keep your job.

You also want to close the sale for them, so make sure that your sales letter for the product converts like crazy. Have a professional copywriter write it if your budget allows – a good one will know the techniques that get people to buy.

If you can’t do that, at least try to have someone critique it and show you the weak points in your copy. One thing that will cause you to lose affiliates very quickly is having a site that doesn’t pull in buyers.

If notice that they’ve sent you a few hundred visitors, and nobody is biting, they’re going to move on rather quickly to another product.

Pay Your Affiliate Handsomely

A lot of people struggle with the fact that you should pay your affiliates at the very least 50% of the products price. On that note, you’ll actually want to pay them much more than that.

The reason that you want to do this is for the same reasons I stated above. You want to be able to easily get new affiliates, and keep them. You can’t think of it as losing money, you have to think of it in terms of gaining money.

If you’re making only $20 on your $60 ebook, but you have 200 good affiliates out there cranking out sales for you, then you should absolutely to be happy about this. You’re doing nothing to make these sales except pay the commission, while your affiliates are sweating it out in the trenches promoting your product.

They’re probably paying for advertising, and spending a lot of their most precious commodity, which is time. Pay them handsomely, and they will continue to reward you handsomely in sheer volume of sales.

Affiliates can be very fair weathered friends, and there are thousands of other products for them to choose from. You must do your best to keep them on board, and keep them happy as much as possible.

Now that you know about marketing as an affiliate – where no website of you own is required – I’m going to show you how to create your own home on the ‘net. This gives you more control over your online business efforts, and you won’t have to spend a small fortune to get started.

The success of your website depends mostly on you content. This is the case both for your human visitors as well as the Google robots. You want to have content that is relevant to keywords that people are searching for. However, trying to smash 100 keywords onto one page doesn’t work.

You must have many pages that revolve around only one keyword each, using the keywords sprinkled nicely throughout your content in a natural way. And don’t forget to add them in headlines (with the correct <h1> tags), in the subheadings, and in bold italicized, and underlined font.

Stop! With all this technical mumbo-jumbo that we’ve been going over, you may be feeling overwhelmed and wondering if you can handle all of this. The answer is an emphatic YES. You just need to take things in little bite-sized chunks.

Through all of this, you may have lost sight on what you’re trying to do. It’s very simple. You’re trying to get as much exposure as possible to your product or service through your website.

You need human eyes.

This is called traffic. Much like if you had a store or office on a main street of town you would get foot traffic. However, the web is much different because now you’re not stuck on one corner, or worse sandwiched between two competing stores.

You get to move around to exactly where the people are, and put yourself (through your website) right in front of their face, and what’s best…for FREE! So now, we must begin to think of keywords as our sales force.

The trick is to find out exactly what these people want by their keywords. We then want to build as many pages as we can around all of these different keywords, so that these pages have the chance of being placed highly in the SERPs.

Google takes the number of pages that your site has into consideration and basses some importance on that. They favor those sites that have one hundred or more pages of solid content, optimized in the ways we stated before.

You don’t want to ignore the phrases that are searched fewer times because those could very well be your most profitable pages. The reason being that other people will usually ignore these keywords going for the ones with most searches.

This decreases your competition enormously for these words, and these will rank higher in the SERPs bringing you consistent web traffic. The power is in the numbers. Are you worried about writing? Not everyone is a writer nor do they like to write.

If you do like to write, just start writing articles around your keywords. They don’t have to be long articles or go into too much depth. They only need to be around 300-400 words.

You do want to have some valuable tidbits of info for free in your articles. Mostly however you’ll want to use the “problem, agitate, and solution” formula that leads them to your product or service.

If writing just isn’t your thing then the best thing to do is to have somebody else write for you. Hire a ghostwriter. This is someone who will write all the content for you, giving you rights to take all credit for it. This is someone who will write all the content for you, giving you rights to take all credit for it. This makes you look like the expert in your field, when really all you’re doing is sitting back and letting somebody else do the work.

Go to Elance.com or Guru.com and post a project stating that you want “optimized article” written and you’ll very quickly get bids from people eager to write your articles for you.

Another option you have is to use Articles Directories. The better known is at Ezinearticles and Goarticles . You are free to use these articles – however you must keep the authors resource box intact at the bottom.

This does create two problems that you must aware of, however. It has the chance of getting your page penalized for having duplicate content, and it leads the visitor away from your website from their resource box. People who don’t like to write often use Public Domain material. This is material whose copyright has

expired, and is therefore free to use without crediting the author.

There are many laws that go along with this, and it’s best to be cautious when using this content. However, many fortunes have been made on and off the Internetby using Public Domain Material.

Having good navigation on your site is essential for high placement in the SERPs. You want people to be able to get around your site with ease, because once it becomes the slightest bit difficult or annoying, they will leave in a blink of the eye.

Here’s something you should keep in mind: always count on your secondary pages – pages other than your homepage – to be found first since you’ve optimized each page successfully around relevant keywords.

You’ll want to make sure that it’s as easy to get to other pages on your website from secondary pages as it is from your homepage. Your homepage will likely be an overview of your site usually utilizing your main keywords, which unfortunately are usually the competitive.

For this reason your secondary pages will likely rank higher in the SERPs and therefore deliver you the most web traffic. Be excruciating careful that you have a good navigational system or else you’ll lose a ton of traffic that could have been directed to the pages that make you money.

What’s makes a good navigational system?

One that is clear and easy to follow

The one that brings you directly to the page you want. You don’t want your visitor to ever have to follow several links to get to the page they want. Always think “One click away”.

One without broken links. You’ll lose visitors very quickly by having dead links. Test them and test them often. Here’s a free tools that will help you test broken links as well as other things on your site: sitereportcard.com

So you now know that having good solid content, optimized by placing your keywords strategically, is the key to successful SEO. You also want to have as many pages available for your prospects to come across as possible. Furthermore, you want them to be able to get from page to page of your site, without any frustration.

Keeping customers in mind is paramount. You want to keep them at your site for as long as possible – plus you want them to want to come back often. This indeed will give you the best chance of profit from your site.

Out of the three major search engines to optimize for, your biggest payoff will no doubt be from optimizing for Google. Google is the top dog and doesn’t show any chance of losing that title, therefore putting the most effort in getting your site to the top of Google’s pages should be what you’re striving for.

There are on-page and off-page optimization techniques. Majority focused wholly on on-page but now it’s time to touch on the opposite. Your off-page techniques will be actually what make the biggest difference in your rankings.

It has the ability to catapult your website right onto the first page of Google if you get it right. Linking is the essence of off-page optimization – more specifically, getting links to your site called inbound links.

This is as opposed to outbound links which are links coming from your website to another. This hugely important to Google, so much so that they actually have a way of measuring your linking popularity, called Google PageRank (often referred to as PR).

PageRank has many factors but what it is basically is a popularity vote for your website - a popularity vote in fact that Google keeps close watch of. With PageRank, not only does it matter how many inbound links you get – but also who you get them from – plus what their PR is as well. It’s measured on a scale from 0 to 10.

Obviously the higher the number you have the better. You’ll want to try to be to the greater number of 5 or 6. It’s very difficult to get much higher, for example as of standings right now, Amazon.com is at a PageRank of 7, eBay is at a 9, AOL is also at 9, and not surprising Google is at a perfect 10.

However, that’s not to say that it is a flawed system by any means – if you consider how many pages actually link to Google. Getting inbound links from sites with a high PageRank will in turn help you raise your PageRank, therefore helping you get a much better rank in the search engines.

So how do you know what PageRank for your site is? The easiest way is to download the Google Toolbar onto your computer. This way you just have to type in the URL of your website and it will show you exactly what your PageRank is.

The Google Toolbar uses a green indicator bar that tells you what your rank is. You can see the actual number by just holding the arrow over the bar, it will then read the number by the your PR number out of 10 (e.g. 6/10)

Here’s where to get the toolbar: http://toolbar.google.com You can also keep an eye on competing websites, and see exactly what they’re doing to obtain high PageRank, and duplicate their methods. (Methods not content!)

Once you know your PageRank, You’ll want to start getting links from good solid sites to increase it. There are various methods in which people have tried to automate this called link farms, link automation, etc.

This isn’t a good way to raise your PageRank because these are not relevant sites that Google loves. Your financial well being relies on Google so you must actually take the time to do it right, and get links most naturally, from sites that are worthy in Google’s eyes.

You won’t see an instant rise in your PageRank. Most often you’ll see this after a little shakeup of things, that’s referred to as the Google Dance. This is what Google does now and then to get rid of spam sites, link farms, etc., and to reward those sites that are doing all those things that Google approves of with better rankings.

It’s a tough system, yet one that you can win by not trying to create shortcuts – but by building solid informative pages. Google loves thems!

The way to get ranked highly in the Search Engines is by “optimizing” your site. It rarely happens by accident, especially now with so many competing websites, that your site will end up ranking well.

There are certain Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that you must do to increase your chances. We’ll be going over these things in detail now. There’s something that you should know before we continue.

The way that the search engines know how to rank your site is by using what they call “spiders” or “bots.” These spider bots will come and visit your site. While they’re there, they will “crawl” your site, and look for certain relevant information about it, helping them decide where it should be ranked on the search engines.

This all done behind the scenes, usually every 90 days or so in the beginning, and depending on factors such as relevancy, organization, design, and frequency of updates, they will begin to crawl your site more often.

The things that you can do to control how well you get ranked can be done “on page” and there are things that can be done “off page.” I’ll go over the on page techniques now.

Your sites design has a big impact on how well it gets ranked. There are certain things that you must do – plus things that you definitely should not do.

Two of the most important aspects to your rankings will be the keyword placement, and keyword density. Since your site will show up based on keywords that people type into the search engines, you must increase your chances by strategically placing these keywords on your page.

One important place that you need to take note is to place your main keyword in your domain name. Something you’ll also want to do is to show the spiders the added importance of your keywords by Bolding, italicizing, and underlining them.

Don’t go crazy doing this - just a couple of them here and there will be fine. Overdoing it is unpleasant to the eye, and may make it seem like you’re trying to spam the search engines.

Another important place is in the title of your pages. If you’ll notice that when you’re on a webpage, above page (in white text, on the blue background if you’re using Explorer) there is the title of the web page that you’re on.

There’s a little bit of behind the scenes action to getting that text there but it’s easy. In your HTML source section of your editor, near the top your web page will be these tags: <title></title>.

Put a little using two keywords between these tags like this: <title> 1st keyword / 2nd keyword </title>. You’ll want to add your main keyword first, and your secondary keyword last.

Next is using keywords in headlines and subheadings. As always, you’ll want to use an attention-grabbing headline with your keyword included, hopefully somewhere near the beginning if possible.

Most importantly though, make sure that it’s surrounded by the </h1></h1> tags. This is actually pretty easily done right in the toolbar of your HTML editor. If not, take the time and do it in the source code.

There are a few different schools of thought when it comes to keyword density. This is a fancy phrase for how many times you sprinkle your keywords within your text. The theories go from 2% density to (%. It all depends on the algorithms of the search engines basically, and nobody really knows for sure. (Except for the engineers at Google of course).

So the best way is to simply put them in there randomly, yet in a readable way, so that they flow naturally. This kills two birds with one stone, pleasing both the SERPs and the human eyes.

While we’re on the subject pleasing to the human eye, let me just say; don’t ignore Meta Tags. Today they are nearly useless in terms of ranking, however the meta description will be what people read when they find your site on SERPs, therefore neglecting this chance to draw attention to your site would be foolish oversight.
Something that people often pass up when designing their site is the use of ALT text for images. ALT means ‘alternate’ text in place of an image. There are two very good reasons for using ALT text.

First, many times people will surf with their images off, meaning that when there is an image on a page, it won’t be shown – just a box where it would be – and if the designer is smart, an alternate text (ALT text).

The second reason for this is that when the bots crawl your site and see an image the only way for them to know just what that image is, is by the text describing the image.

The structure of your website is also a factor in this game. (Some game right?) Websites are created using a variety of structures, codes, and scripts. Some can be helpful and others… not so much.

Using frames when building websites is a bad idea. Frames let you display more than one HTML document (web page) in the same browser window. Bottom line, Google bots cannot read frames or the content within it, therefore any good use of your keywords will be in vain.
Don’t let this confuse you with using tables to design your site. Tables are fine, and if you want to be strategic about it, you can design your site so that each cell within each table focuses on a different relevant keyword.

One last thing to point out is that using JAVA script on your site may well be useful in some ways, however for SEO purposes it isn’t. JAVA script is completely irrelevant to the Google bots - they ignore it completely.

One thing that you don’t want to do is promote just any product. You’ll want to evaluate the product a bit to see if it’s worth your time in the first place. There are some criteria that must be visible for it to be worth your time.

The time that you spend to do this homework now will be time well spent, and will have a nice return-on-investment (ROI). Your first major concern should be how well the sales page converts.

Why would you want to waste your time getting people to visit a page that won’t do its job and make the sale for you? After all, your power is limited when it comes to getting people to buy.

The product’s owner should therefore do everything in their power to convert that visitor to a buyer. The first thing that you should note is the sales page. How well is it laid out?

Does it look professional? Does the headline grab your attention? Does the copy pull you in and make you want to read more? Considering the market, does it seem to have the prospects wants and needs in mind?

Does it tell any stories to keep the reader reading? Does it have a strong guarantee? Would you buy if it were you needing this product? Is there a strong call-to-action? Hopefully a professional copywriter will have written it.

A good piece of advice would be to contact the site owner, preferably by email, and just ask them how it converts. (How many people out of each 100 visitors buy.)

Next, you’ll want to know how and when you’ll be paid. Is it through a third party service that keeps track of the commissions and pays out themselves, or is it through their own payment system?

Will they pay you every two weeks, once a month, or once you reach a certain payout amount? This will be different between each merchant, such as ClickBank, which pays every two weeks.

You’ll also want to know what the payment threshold is. Some make you wait until you have reached at least $25, some $100. Some let you set it yourself.

Just as importantly is how much you’ll be getting paid.

There are many factors to consider, but generally you should expect at least 50% if it’s an information product. Preferably, you’ll want to look for a product that pays 75%. This also depends on how well the product converts, plus the price of the product.
